The Yardville National Bank in Ringoes [google maps] was robbed a few hours ago -- marking the first *actual* news in Ringoes' history. The bank is less than a mile from my apartment ... so for all I know, the robber is hiding at my place right now. [I'm blogging from job #2 ... on my birthday (pity me!)]
From The Courier News: Authorities received a call from the bank at 1:55 p.m. and are on the scene at 1103 Old York Road in East Amwell Township conducting a preliminary investigation, state police spokeswoman Sgt. Jeanne Hengemuhle said. Both Hengemuhle and state police at the Kingwood barracks, which covers East Amwell, declined to release further details, citing the ongoing investigation. Authorities have, however, released a description of the suspect: a 6-foot tall white man weighing about 220 pounds, who has facial hair and was last seen wearing a hat, sunglasses and a mustard-colored hoodie.
From NJ.com: The bank, located at Old York and Boss roads in the Ringoes section of East Amwell, was robbed just before 2 p.m., Sate Police said. No injuries were reported, but Boss Road, between Old York Road and Route 604 remains closed. Authorities did not immediately release details of the robbery, including the amount of money that was taken. However, State Police said the suspect had a gun. The man, who police said fled either on foot or a bicycle, was described as about 6-feet tall and 220 pounds. He was wearing a mustard-yellow, hooded sweatshirt, police said. A heavy police presence remains on site, with members of the State Police SWAT team on the ground and a police helicopter in the air. Troopers from the Kingwood barracks, along with K-9 officers, crime scene investigators all responded to the location.
