NBC is dumb
Posted on Saturday, February 18, 2006 NBC has asked YouTube.com to remove Saturday Night Live's "Lazy Sunday: Chronicles of Narnia" video. Why NBC would punish the site that turned SNL's most popular clip in years into viral internet content doesn't really make sense. You can still view "Lazy Sunday" on NBC's site ... if you're using a PC [note: why on earth would you be using anything else?]... and if you're using IE [blechk].
'Changes Ahead for a Theater Near You'
Posted on Thursday, February 16, 2006
There's an interesting article on the NY Times' site today about how movie theaters are planning to price movies according to supply and demand.
"You will pay more for a ticket on the weekends and less on weekdays. You'll be able to buy a reserved seat in the center of the theater for a few extra dollars. One of these days, you may even have to pay more for a hit movie than for a bomb. The changes are under way, and they are long overdue." [source]
Economically, this seems like a good idea. But as a consumer that will be forced to pay the higher prices to see a hit movie on opening weekend, it doesn't seem fair. The article also mentions Coca Cola's plans in 1999 to install thermometers in their vending machines so they could charge more on hot days. Consumers revolted and Coca Cola claimed that they were never serious.
For the good of my wallet, I hope the same thing happens with movie theaters... although it doesn't seem likely. link |

Snowed In!
Posted on Sunday, February 12, 2006
I've posted a few pics on flickr of the massive amount of snow that the sky has been dumping on us for the last 24 hours. There's at least 18 inches out there ... and it's still falling. Somebody make it stop! link |

Bollywood takes on Fight Club
Posted on Saturday, February 11, 2006
As reported on TwitchFilm.net, Bollywood is remaking Fight Club. Yeah, you read that right... and there's plenty of Trailers and Music Videos to prove it (all are downloadable .wmv's). It looks like there's going to be more fight scenes, more rules (I'm loving "the left hand rule") and if we're lucky, more singing and choreographed dance scenes. Check out the film's official website here.
According to the official site, "Fight Club is an exhilarating journey of four friends Vicky (Zayed Khan), Karan (Dino Morea), Somil (Ritesh Desmukh) and Diku (Aashish Choudhary), who in a constant endeavor to help each other, get entangled in a web of incidents, some romantic, many funny and all that test the extremes of their friendship." ...so clearly they're not sticking to the original US version.
The new version, which appears to be in English, will carry the subtitle "Members Only." I wonder if Bollywood is aware of the incredibly coolMembers Only jacket? I hope this version of Fight Club contains some epaulets ... cuz that would make me want to see it even more!
'2,245 Dead. How many more?'
Posted on Wednesday, February 01, 2006
More news is now available concerning Cindy Sheehan's arrest last night. Sheehan was handcuffed, arrested, and removed from last night's State of the Union Address for wearing a t-shirt that read, "2,245 Dead. How many more?"
In hindsight, U.S. Capitol Police Chief Terrance Gainer has admitted that the police "made a mistake" and has issued an apology. As quoted on CNN.com, "'Just wearing a T-shirt is not unlawful,' Gainer said. Wearing a T-shirt and engaging in actions meant to draw attention to the shirt is against the law." [source]
"I told him that my son died there. That's when the enormity of my loss hit me. I have lost my son. I have lost my First Amendment rights. I have lost the country that I love. Where did America go?"
"I have some lawyers looking into filing a First Amendment lawsuit against the government for what happened tonight. I will file it. It is time to take our freedoms and our country back."
