chestnuts roasting on an open fire

Jack Frost nipping at your nose Yuletide carols being sung by a choir And folks dressed up like Eskimos
Everybody knows some tofu and some mistletoe Help to make the season bright Tiny tots with their eyes all aglow Will find it hard to sleep tonight
They know that Santa's on his way He's loaded lots of toys And goodies on his sleigh And every mother's child is gonna spy To see if reindeer really know how to fly
And so, I'm offering this simple phrase To kids from one to ninety-two Although its been said Many times, many ways, Merry Christmas!
Sorry I haven't posted in a while ... I've been crazy/busy for the last week or so. On top of some last-minute Christmas shopping, I've been baking into the wee hours of the morning nearly every day. I've made 3 batches of almond biscotti, cinnamon blossoms, oatmeal raisin/walnut, sugar cookies topped with melted milk chocolate, chocolate chip[less] cookies, and my own blend of chocolate-chocolate chip cookies with toffee, walnuts and almonds. On top of that, I also made bruschetta, pizza from scratch, and two veggie trays. If I bake another cookie as long as I live, it will be too soon (please remind me of this next Christmas...).
On top of that, I could feed you some more excuses, but if your belly is as full as mine, I doubt you could stomach them. Ahhhhhh the holiday season. So I will leave you now ... but first -- I wish you a very Merry Christmas!!!
Merry Christmas! Merry Christmas to.. You! [lyrics source]

pizza time!
Posted on Monday, December 11, 2006
Today I made homemade pizza using a dough recipe from Isa Chandra Moskowitz's cookbook, Vegan with a Vengeance. The recipe is very easy and combines only water, sugar, flour, yeast, salt, and cornmeal. It took a few hours to allow the dough to rise and rest, but it was really worth the wait. The pizzas were topped with sauce, mozzarella cheese (which turned the recipe from vegan to vegetarian), and sliced peppers. They baked for 6-11 minutes on top of a pizza stone at 500 degrees and the results were delicious! If you ask me really nicely, I might make it for you some day...

are you a horny manatee?
Posted on Thursday, December 07, 2006
On Monday night's Late Night with Conan O'Brien, Conan introduced a number of "little known college football mascots" including the 'Horny Manatee.' During the bit, he joked about the then-fiction web address www.HornyManatee.com. On Tuesday night's show, he explained that there is a "law" that if a fictional web address is mentioned on broadcast television, the network must purchase that web address. NBC then "paid $150" for ten years of domain name ownership.
Although this doesn't seem to be an actual law, Groklaw.com's Pamela Jones (as quoted in this article) says it may be an NBC "PR policy" to purchase mentioned web addresses. I'm betting that it's all just part of a giant Conan O'Brien comedy bit ... and kudos to him, cuz it's great.
Our red-haired buddy, who is not one to waste NBC's hard-earned cash, has posted some pictures of manatees in compromising positions. You are also invited to e-mail your own "horny manatee" photos to conan@hornymanatee.com, and some have already been added. You can also check out a "live" horny manatee web cam.
I know I'm dreaming, but I hope they decide to offer some @hornymanatee.com e-mail addresses ... how great would it be to have adam@hornymanatee.com?? I guess a guy can dream, can't he?
