alleged bank robbers nabbed!
Posted on Wednesday, July 25, 2007 From The Courier News...
Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the robbery of the Yardville National Bank in East Amwell earlier this month.
Sean Desa, 20, was arrested at 7:40 a.m. Tuesday at his father's home in Readington on a federal warrant charging him with bank robbery and conspiracy in connection with the July 5 robbery of the Yardville branch in the Ringoes section of East Amwell, authorities said.
Jay Fleshman, 31, of Raritan Township was arrested Friday and charged as the getaway driver in that robbery, authorities said. He remains in the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service.
Since his arrest, authorities said Fleshman has been charged with three bank robberies, including an April 4 robbery at a Commerce Bank in Springfield, an April 6 robbery at Advanced Financial Federal Credit Union in New Providence and the Yardville robbery in Ringoes. locally grown
Posted on Sunday, July 15, 2007 The Hunterdon Land Trust Alliance runs a small Farmer's Market at the old Dvoor Bros farm on the Route 12 Circle in Flemington. The market featured a variety of locally grown vegetables, cheeses, honey, soap, flowers, and meat. The market is open from 9-1pm, every Sunday between June and October. Check out Dvoor Farmer's Market and Hunterdon Land Trust Alliance sites for more information.
www.EatLocalChallenge.com outlines the reasons you should "eat local." Local foods boost the local economy, are fresher, and help to improve air quality and reduce polution. Also check out John Ikerd's essays entitled, "Eating Local: A Matter of Integrity" and "My Top Ten Reasons for Eating Local." Ikerd lists that eating local foods will help build a sustainable society, save farmland, and improves food quality, while reducing transportation costs (both monetarily and environmentally) and in effect, eliminates the middle man. The benefits of eating local foods is obvious.
Social and environmental reasons aside, my local fruits and veggies taste damn good! My tomatoes and blueberries are amazing! I'm already looking forward to next trip to my local farmer's market! link |

ringoes robbery update
Posted on Saturday, July 07, 2007 [from c-n.com] Authorities asked the public early Thursday night to help identify a man police said robbed the Ringoes branch of Yardville National Bank by confronting a teller and claiming to have a handgun.
After receiving an undisclosed amount of money during the 1:52 p.m. robbery, police said the man left the scene by running northbound on Boss Road, the side street next to the branch bank at 1103 Old York Road. Police, some clutching rifles and wearing bulletproof vests, canvassed the area with police dogs while a state police helicopter buzzed overhead.
Authorities investigating Thursday's incident "will compare notes" with the police departments searching for "The Mad Hatter" -- a middle-aged bank robber responsible for a string of holdups during the past eight months -- as well as other early leads, said Detective Dan Hurley, spokesman for the Hunterdon County Prosecutor's Office.
But Hurley said it is too early to tell if the alleged Yardville robber is connected to The Mad Hatter, is a possible copycat or is completely unrelated.

It's the seventh day of the seventh month of the [two thousandth and] seventh year. It's a day when people are getting married, people are gambling their money away, Tupac is coming back from the dead, and the world is joining together to raise awareness of, and money for, the fight against global warming. news in ringoes!
Posted on Thursday, July 05, 2007 The Yardville National Bank in Ringoes [google maps] was robbed a few hours ago -- marking the first *actual* news in Ringoes' history. The bank is less than a mile from my apartment ... so for all I know, the robber is hiding at my place right now. [I'm blogging from job #2 ... on my birthday (pity me!)]
From The Courier News: Authorities received a call from the bank at 1:55 p.m. and are on the scene at 1103 Old York Road in East Amwell Township conducting a preliminary investigation, state police spokeswoman Sgt. Jeanne Hengemuhle said. Both Hengemuhle and state police at the Kingwood barracks, which covers East Amwell, declined to release further details, citing the ongoing investigation. Authorities have, however, released a description of the suspect: a 6-foot tall white man weighing about 220 pounds, who has facial hair and was last seen wearing a hat, sunglasses and a mustard-colored hoodie.
From NJ.com: The bank, located at Old York and Boss roads in the Ringoes section of East Amwell, was robbed just before 2 p.m., Sate Police said. No injuries were reported, but Boss Road, between Old York Road and Route 604 remains closed. Authorities did not immediately release details of the robbery, including the amount of money that was taken. However, State Police said the suspect had a gun. The man, who police said fled either on foot or a bicycle, was described as about 6-feet tall and 220 pounds. He was wearing a mustard-yellow, hooded sweatshirt, police said. A heavy police presence remains on site, with members of the State Police SWAT team on the ground and a police helicopter in the air. Troopers from the Kingwood barracks, along with K-9 officers, crime scene investigators all responded to the location. link |

don't link to my photos
Posted on Tuesday, July 03, 2007
The first rule of web design should be that you don't link to other people's photos. You do what every honest, photo-stealing person on the net does ... you right click on them, and save them to your own server. This evening I was checking the server stats of Some Crazy Garbage.com, and I found that http://www.jappy.de/user/esha/ms was linking to one of my photos. Now this isn't a HUGE deal, because they're the only ones that I can easily find right now ... but it's still annoying. After all, I pay for my server space and when http://www.jappy.de/user/esha/ms links to one of my photos, it goes against my monthly transfer limit.
Now the photo they *were* linking to is a photo that I posted way back in February of 2006, about Bollywood remaking Fight Club. Http://www.jappy.de/user/esha/ms has posted a big string of rudely linked photos on the site, under the heading of "bollywood the best."
So what action should I take? I considered just deleting the photo. It's an old post, and I've cleaned old images off my server space before. I even have old blog posts that are blank now, because I've deleted the old images. It's not a big deal. But, the evil side of me decided to have a little fun with this. After all, the rude poster at http://www.jappy.de/user/esha/ms has given me free reign to post anything I want on their site. I first considered a single frame from the original (American) version of Fight Club. You might know what I'm talking about. [No, I didn't just link to the image, I linked to some criticism of the movie. The frame is mentioned in paragraph six.]
So I've settled with this:
After all, I'm not a HORRIBLE person. On a scale of one to ten, I'm like a seven. Oh, did you notice that I replaced the word "rectum" with "Bollywood?" You did? Oh, okay. I was just checking.
