It's about time.

This morning I woke up early. I set my alarm for 7am so I could watch The Today Show on NBC, even though I didn't really have to get up until 8:30. As I watched President-Elect Barack Obama speak, the pundants congratulate him, and various clips of people celebrating both here at home and around the world, I was overcome with a feeling that I haven't felt in a long time. For the first time in a long time, I feel proud to be an American today. I feel like our country has finally taken a step in the right direction. We may have a long walk ahead of us, but for the first time it feels like we're actually getting closer. Congratulations, Barack Obama.

My good friend, Fort Greene CSA Coordinator Jen Datka worked with Idealist.org to create a podcast that explains the ins and outs of Brooklyn's CSAs. Check it out!

The Fort Greene CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) is a new program that will bring farm-fresh, pesticide free vegetables directly to the Fort Greene community. You can join the CSA by purchasing a "share" of a local farmer's harvest. CSA members receive a bounty of fresh produce each week for the entire season, which runs from June to November.
