Last night, Saturday Night Live premiered for the millionth time. As expected, Tina Fey returned to portray her Alaskan hick doppelganger, Sarah Palin. Below is the opening (and high point) of the show, was actually pretty funny. Yes, also as expected, the rest of the 90 minutes was crap.
Rest In Peace, Don LaFontaine

Voice-over king LaFontaine dead at 68
Don LaFontaine, who voiced more than 5,000 movie trailers during a career that saw him dubbed "The King of Voiceovers," has died in Los Angeles, his agent confirmed Tuesday. He was 68.
LaFontaine died in the Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre on Monday from complications caused by an ongoing lung-related illness after being admitted to the facility in late August.
The voice actor was best known for his catchphrase used on several trailers that began with the words "In a world where..."
Among movies that LaFontaine provided the voice for were "The Elephant Man," "Batman Returns," "The Terminator" and "Dr Strangelove."
As well as his trailer work, LaFontaine is believed to have voiced hundreds of thousands of television and radio spots, including advertisements for Chevrolet, Pontiac, Ford, Budweiser, McDonald's and Coke.
LaFontaine is survived by his wife and three children.
I have returned.

At the end of June, 5 new Muppets clips appeared on YouTube. Entertainment Weekly asks, "Are the Muppets staging a stealth comeback online?" Maybe, I guess we'll just have to wait and see. But in the meantime ... enjoy!

RIP Don Davis, 1942-2008
Posted on Wednesday, July 02, 2008 That Was S...G...1! Accomplished character actor Don Davis died on June 29th of a massive heart attack, he was 65. Davis appeared in over 100 projects, most notably as Major Garland Briggs in Twin Peaks and as General George Hammond in over 160 episodes of Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis. Davis also appeared as Captain William Scully, Dana Scully's father, on The X Files. Davis was a fantastic actor, and I count myself among his many fans. Rest in peace, Don Davis ... you will be greatly missed.
Oh how I want to believe...

"There have been a few hints about Miles' abilities in previous episodes... We already know that he communicates with the dead and can sense things about the living (Michael and Charlotte, for example), and now we can add sonar detection to his list of skills."

On-air expletive raises question about Simmons' future BY VERNE GAY | May 14, 2008
What the -- was Sue thinking?
WNBC news anchor Sue Simmons dropped an expletive on startled viewers Monday night, leaving thousands gasping and probably the same number laughing. But in the wake of one of the biggest on-air gaffes in Channel 4 history, a question was left hanging: What was she thinking?
And this one too: Will she survive?
Her next word: Sorry
An industry source confirmed yesterday that Simmons directed the expletive at her longtime co-anchor Chuck Scarborough, seated to her left when the "tease" for the 11 p.m. news aired just after 10:30; viewers couldn't see his reaction because a shot of a cruise ship was on screen when Simmons yelled, "What the -- are you doing?" at him.
He returned solo to the air about 20 minutes later for another tease, although both anchors were on the 11 p.m. broadcast, where Simmons apologized. On yesterday's 5 p.m. newscast, Simmons made no mention of the day's most talked-about story.
Sources also added yesterday that Simmons had believed the "tease" - an industry term for a brief cut-in that promotes a later broadcast - was being taped. Scarborough, who looked distracted during the segment, also appeared as if they were in a rehearsal.
"It was supposed to be a pre-taped piece and wound up live," one source said. "She didn't know it was live and blurted that out." Industry sources say that Scarborough may have missed a cue, prompting Simmons' outburst. ...continue reading.

Some Crazy Garbage.com has probably received more hits in the last 12 hours since I posted my video of Sue Simmons saying the F-word than in the past 5 years. All I can say is -- thanks for visiting!
Concerning Sue ... a debate of sorts has erupted in the Comments of my Sue Simmons Has A Potty Mouth post about whether or not she should be fired. I would like to throw my hat into the ring and say: No, she should not be fired. She should not be fined, suspended, yelled at, or even criticized. She said a word that most of us say every day. Sure it was on live television, but it was after 10 o'clock and if your sheltered kids who have never heard the word before, heard it for the first time on that live news break, then you should be ashamed for letting them watch Medium. As someone in the Comments pointed out -- you saw a lady drown a baby in a bathtub last night on Medium. If your kids were watching that, then shame on you. Plus she apologized on the 11 o'clock news for her slip-up. She said, "I have to acknowledge an unfortunate incident ... I used a word that many people find offensive. It was a mistake I made and I'm truly sorry." I commend Simmons for making a mistake and owning up to it.
